Spinal and Peripheral Manipulation – Dr David Lintonbon DO, PG Cert
The course “Spinal and Peripheral Manipulation” is a theoretical-practical course held by Dr David Lintonbon DO, PG Cert, among the major experts of structural osteopathy: he has been teaching osteopathic and manipulative therapy since 1991 and is a senior lecturer at the British College of Osteopathic Medicine. In the last 30 years he has taught all over Europe, Canada, USA, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Japan and the Middle East to osteopaths, physiotherapists, chiropractors and manual/physical therapists.
The tutored practical sessions together with the theoretical learning allow the pratictioners to bring their practical skills to an advanced level of awareness, safety, and professional ability. The therapists will be able to manipulate the spine and the peripheral joints safely, efficiently and effectively with comfort for both the patient and the therapist.
The main topics
This three day course covers the theoretical principles and practical execution of the grade 5 manipulation techniques (HVLA) for the the spine and extremities. The participents will learn how to use the minimal leverage and how to recognise contraindications and red flags, deciding when to perform alternative tecniques such as MET. The pratictioners will be able to design adaptations that are appropriate to the patient’s needs and justified by knowledge of the relevant principles.
Learning outcomes
• To competently perform HVLA techniques
• To choose the techniques according to the patient’s needs, justifying them by the knowledge of the relevant principles
• To properly use the minimal leverage
• To decide when to perform MET as an alternative to HVLA techniques
• To recognise contraindications and red flags
Registration
The course Spinal and Peripheral Manipulation is intended for osteopaths, physical therapists and students in their last year. All registration forms must be received by Friday 05th September 2025.

The postgraduate course Spinal and Peripheral Manipulation held by Dr Dott. David Lintonbon is a three-day course (22 hours in total) with theoretical lectures and practical sessions.

Lumbar spine, thoracic spine and peripheral manifestations
• Introduction to HVLA manipulation, safety precautions, evaluation, red flag conditions, and differential diagnosis
• Lumbar spine: passive analysis, demonstration and practical session under supervision
• Thoracic spine and ribs: passive analysis, demonstration and practical session under supervisionSATURDAY 27th SEPTEMBER 2025 | h 09 am – 01 pm and 02 pm – 06 pm
Sacro-iliac joints and cervical spine
• Introduction to the pelvis and the common compensatory pattern, safety precautions, red flag conditions, and differential diagnosis
• Sacro-iliac joints: demonstration and practical session under supervision
• Cervical spine: safety precautions, contraindications and VBI testing, demonstration and practical session under supervisionSUNDAY 28th SEPTEMBER 2025 | h 09 am – 01 pm and 02 pm – 04:30 pm
Shoulder, acromioclavicular joint, sternum
• Shoulder, acromioclavicular joint, sternoclavicular joint: safety precautions, red flags, differential diagnosis, demostration and practical session under supervision
• Elbow, wrist and hand: safety precautions, red flags, differential diagnosis, demostration and practical session under supervision
• Foot and ankle: safety precautions, red flags, differential diagnosis, demostration and practical session under supervisionDue to the numerous practical sessions, we suggest the participants to dress with appropriate clothing.
CERTIFICATE
At the end of the course, the participants will receive a certificate.

Dr David LINTONBON (DO, PG Cert)
Osteopath and clinic tutor, he is a senior lecturer at the British College of Osteopathic Medicine London UK, and guest lecturer on numerous international occasions, from European to Americal, Asian, and Middle East countries. Associate lecturer with the Association of Osteomyologists and the Institute of Chiropodists and Podiatrists UK. Published author of the Art of HVT eBook series and the Art of HVT DVD on grade 5 manipulations of the spine and periphery. He has been contributing to the journal “Positive Health PH Online” since its launch in 1994 to now, including commissioned articles, clinical case studies, research updates, book reviews, letters, and links spanning the entire spectrum of natural health disciplines.

In case of withdrawal, SOMA Istituto Osteopatia Milano will keep the course fee. The course starts with a minimum number of 15 participants. In case of cancellation of the course due to failure to reach the minimum number of participants, SOMA Istituto Osteopatia Milano Srl will refund the course fee.
