Diagnostic palpation in osteopathy

"Thinking, feeling, and seeing with intelligent fingers, not tinkering blindly, opens up the avenues to many possibilities in the osteopathic field" - William Garner Sutherland

03 & 04 OCTOBER 2025

Diagnostic palpation in osteopathy – Dr Nancy Nunn BSC(Hons) DPO PgCert FHEA

The postgraduate course “Diagnostic palpation in osteopathy” with Dr Nancy Nunn BSC(Hons) DPO PgCert FHEA is designed to develop the use of osteopaths’ hands as “listening tools”. Quoting the words of William Garner Sutherland “Thinking, feeling, and seeing with intelligent fingers, not tinkering blindly, opens up the avenues to many possibilities in the osteopathic field” the aim of this practical course is to develop a more aware use of our hands and palpation.

The delegates will develop the practical application of an understanding of both structure and function by exploring what the palpatory experiences mean about the patients’ anatomy and physiology. Discussion will include how it is useful to use our hands to facilitate therapeutic change within the body.
